Who does this role help?

Children, Families, Pre-schoolers (3-5yrs)

Our pre-schools provide children aged 2-5 with learning and development in a safe, stimulating, positive environment.

Volunteers work alongside staff to engage appropriately with children in their play, support with setting up and clearing away, and help keep the setting a clean, safe space. This role includes working outside all year round.

Who you will be helping

Young children thrive on adult attention and interaction. You will be supporting their development by being able to offer an interested pair of listening ears and a play partner who can progress their learning.

The difference you will make

You will be helping young children to build confidence, extend their speech and vocabulary skills and gain independence in preparation for school.

You will also be helping our early years staff team by offering extra support with activities and enabling them to offer wider learning experiences that require an additional pair of hands to manage safely, such as outings in the local community.

Pre-school offers children 3 hour sessions; morning and afternoon. Ideally a commitment to at least one full session per week; term time only.

  • To engage with all the children on their level and encourage them to become confident, sociable and independent.
  • To report and record any accidents, incidents or child protection concerns to the supervisor. To be aware of emergency procedures.
