We are looking for volunteers for each of our 10 children's centres which are part of the Lincolnshire Family Hub network

Who does this role help?

Families, Parents

Mums at a playgroup with toddlers and ore-school children

We are looking for volunteers to show families around our Children's Centres and to support them to confidently access the services offered.

Who you will be helping

You will be helping families to engage with the Children's Centres and to access the sessions and services offered. It can be difficult to attend children's centres for the first time – you will be offering support and increasing confidence so that families are comfortable and happy to come back.

The difference you will make

You will be supporting parents and carers to feel confident to attend sessions at the children's centres – extending their own support networks and their knowledge and understanding of child development.

Typical tasks within this role:

  • Meeting potential families and showing them around the Childrens Centre
  • Attending sessions with parents/ carers as a support
  • To share information parents/carers about family activities/ events and courses run by the childrens centres
  • Supporting the Parent/ Carer Forums
  • To record contacts made
  • To gather feedback from families as requested
  • To share with parents and carers the benefits of adult learning and parenting courses
  • Volunteers will need to gain an understanding (appropriate to your role) of, and comply with, all relevant Family Action Policies and procedures.

Who are we looking for?

There is no typical Family Action volunteer. We want our volunteers to be as diverse as the people we support. We need volunteers with a range of life experiences, skills and knowledge to. In return for giving your time and talents, you will receive quality training, ongoing support, and the reward of knowing that you are making a real difference. This role will particularly suit volunteers who:

  • Have good relationship skills and a warm approachable manner.
  • Have an understanding of the need for professional boundaries.
  • Have positive experience at Children's Centres, early years education, or family activities and services.
