Role Based Details

Based in one of the Family Hubs - Stockton, Redhill, Thornaby or Billingham

Who does this role help?

Children, Families, Parents

Parenting groups give parents a place to connect with others facing similar challenges, to learn more about some important elements of parenting, and to receive emotional and practical support. Through our Parenting groups, we provide targeted support to help parents tackle specific issues they are facing. We need volunteers to help facilitate these groups so we can reach more parents in the community.

Who you will be helping

The issues you help parents manage will depend on which group you volunteer with. The groups offer targeted support with challenges as diverse as helping new mums manage breastfeeding; facilitating parents’ understanding of their child’s needs; and supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse. Whatever group you volunteer with, your input will help strengthen the attachment between parents and their children, helping to build stronger families.

The difference you will make

Volunteering at a parenting group makes a big difference to the families attending. You will be supporting parents to connect with their child, and with other parents.

Your input will allow more parents to attend our groups. Parenting can be challenging and everyone needs a little help at times. Providing parents with support and guidance can build their knowledge and confidence. This has a positive impact on the parents’ own wellbeing, and on the wellbeing of their child.
