Thousands of families will benefit from £100,000 Poundland Foundation donation.
This generous donation has given Family Action the ability to support thousands more families each year through our free, UK wide FamilyLine helpline and new online self-help resource.
The £100,000 donation will mean the development of an online ‘Get Support’ area for those seeking help with many of the common challenges we respond to through FamilyLine: from parenting challenges to family conflict, relationship difficulties to concerns about mental health.
Since 2020, we have been working in partnership with Barclays to support vulnerable families. In 2020, Barclays launched their COVID-19 Community Aid Package which enabled us to help over 4,000 families affected by the pandemic by providing financial grants programme and opening 18 new Food On Our Doorstep (FOOD) Clubs.
We continue to work together through the delivery of Barclays LifeSkills workshops and the provision of Learning Support Grants. The partnership is helping people to meet basic household needs and build their confidence, whilst developing the practical employability, digital and financial skills needed to access jobs now and in the future.
Barclays LifeSkills workshops and one-to-one support programmes are being delivered through Family Action’s services and their partner organisations across England. The sessions provide resources and support, working towards strengthening families, by raising parents and carers’ confidence and helping them advance their employment prospects, and or, careers. The Learning Support Grants, worth up to £1,000 for each recipient, provide financial support to parents and carers UK-wide who want to begin or continue in education or training, and to increase their employability prospects.
NewDay is Family Action’s longest-standing corporate partner, supporting us since 2016 and raising over £2m through financial contributions, volunteering, gifts in kind and fundraising events such as the London to Paris Cycle and National Three Peaks Challenge. The partnership is based on a shared vision of helping people move forward.
We are thrilled to launch a three-year partnership this year with LV= General Insurance. Through financial contributions, volunteering, and fundraising, LV= are supporting FamilyLine, our free national helpline service. Their support will enable us to be there for even more families who are struggling across the UK. In 2022, Family Action and LV= General Insurance partnership was recognised at the Charity Times Awards, receiving the Highly Commended award for Corporate National Partnership Champion. In partnership with JP Morgan Chase & Co, we launched the The Investing in Futures Fund that provides hundreds of single parents in London with grants to purchase essential items for their education
We partnered with In The Style each year since 2020 as part of their annual Christmas Jumper campaign. Their amazing team of celebrity influencers each year design Christmas jumpers, with 100% of the profits being donated to Family Action. The amazing partnership has raised nearly £100,000 to date, supporting our annual Christmas Toy Appeal, and our services around Christmas time and beyond.
With 4 in 10 motorists saying they were concerned about affording their next MOT, we partnered with Halfords to offer 1,000 free MOT’s to families in ‘working poverty’ to help them keep motoring safely.
Chris Lunn, head of category at Halfords Autocentres said:
Not having an MOT puts families at risk of losing their car, and therefore their job, making their financial situation far worse. That’s why we’re trying to help by offering free MOTs to families who rely on their car but are struggling financially to help keep motoring affordable.
We teamed up with Fisher-Price to create a Play Programme showcasing the value of play in early childhood development. The campaign featured CBeebies Baby Club presenter Gemma Atkinson. Additionally, Fisher-Price donated 2,000 toys to our Toy Appeal.
We partnered with KIDLY to celebrate their 5th Birthday and our work with 0–5-year-olds. Through the generous support of their staff and customers they raised over £18,000 for Family Action! Their donation was used to support our early years services and those that support families with children aged 0-5, through providing enriching experiences like seaside trips and group picnics through our Creating Happy Memories campaign. So, no matter the circumstances a child is born into, they can get the best start in life.
With support from Meals & More, we are supporting struggling families during the school holidays through our Holiday Hub programme, which aims to address poor social inclusion, food insecurity, and financial strain.
A study of 1,400 British parents found over 8 in 10 parents say their kids’ uniform isn’t durable enough to last the school year, we partnered with TU who donated £10,000 of school uniform. At a time when we have more and more families struggling financially, we were delighted to be part of TU’s campaign and receive £10,000 worth of school uniforms to help vulnerable families.
We partnered with The Times to tell real-life stories from families and raise funds for those hit hardest during the pandemic. As a result, readers donated £776,143 – the largest sum raised in the newspaper’s history
We have recently undertaken a new partnership with Good Housekeeping for 2024, focusing on the radical changes to the shape of family life in the UK.
