About this service

Our FamilyConnect Intermediary Service provides specialist support to adult adoptees and birth family members who want to reconnect with their relatives. We also provide support to descendants and other relatives of deceased adult adoptees who want to understand more about their relative’s birth history before adoption. Our expert team of highly skilled and experienced intermediaries and researchers will support you throughout the process.

We provide specialist advice, guidance, tracing and intermediary services to support everyone affected by adoption. If you’re an adult adoptee or a birth relative who wishes to reconnect with someone lost to adoption our Private Intermediary Service can: 

FamilyConnect Website and Advice Line 

Our FamilyConnect website and advice line supports adult adoptees, their descendants and birth relatives who are thinking about tracing their origins and reconnecting with family members.  

Our dedicated website provides helpful information on a range of relevant topics and our advice line is here to answer any questions you may have and explore whether our intermediary service can support you. We can advise on accessing your adoption records to help you make an informed decision about whether to look for your birth family.

Tracing and intermediary service 

If you would like to explore searching for your birth family, our tracing and intermediary service can support you through the process. Our team of experienced researchers can trace relatives or someone closely related to them and we can make intermediary contact with them on your behalf.  

Where contact is wanted by your relative, we can support and prepare both you and them through this often daunting initial stage. If contact is not wanted, we can continue to support you and look at ‘what next’. 

Searching for and sometimes contacting birth relatives that you’ve been separated from can feel overwhelming, but we are here to help.
