Domestic Abuse Healing and Empowerment North Somerset offers emotional and practical support, as well as information and guidance, to children, young people and adults that have experienced domestic abuse in North Somerset. The service supports the recovery journey, empowering individuals and resulting in greater wellbeing and improved quality of life.

Domestic abuse is more common than many think: UK data shows roughly 1 in 4 women, 1 in 6 men and 1 in 7 children experience domestic abuse. The impacts can be devastating and lasting. For children it often shapes their childhood, effects immediate wellbeing and can hold weight even when they are adults. With the right support, however, it's possible for those who have witnessed such abuse to thrive, to be empowered to make decisions that will support wellbeing and enable them to live the life they want.
Please note, this is not a crisis service.
Our team offer a variety of services to support you depending on your age, situation and need. This may include:
- one-to-one talking therapy, for you (and your children where appropriate)
- one-to-one or group play therapy for children and young people,
- group sessions,
- peer-support drop-in groups, and, if applicable,
- access to other courses to equip you with the tools needed to best support you and your family.
An inclusive service, we strive to meet the needs of those that we work with. We provide accessible support that we adapt to best suit you and ensure all our staff have the right training to support you appropriately.
