About this service
WESAIL stands for Wakefield Early Support, Advice, Information and Liaison. We offer free and impartial information, advice and support on Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) for parents, carers, children and young people living in Wakefield and district. We provide a confidential service that covers Pre and Plus Working Support as well as Wakefield’s Local Offer. We empower individuals through the provision of information, advice, support and signposting on a variety of matters including education, health, social care, and leisure.

Wakefield Early Support, Advice, Information and Liaison (WESAIL) provides a free, confidential and impartial service – which means we do not take sides and try to ensure everyone is given opportunities to express their views and feel listened to.
We support children, young people, their parents, carers and families by providing information to navigate systems and processes to enable families to play an active role in decision-making when it comes to matters relating to their or their children's health, education, social care to support, empowering them in meeting their child's needs and promoting self-advocacy. We are also responsible for updating the Local Offer. The Local Offer aims to help people find information about the services, activities and support available in the local area for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and /or Disabilities and their families.
