About this service

SENDIASS stands for Special Educational Needs and Disability Information Advice and Support Service. We offer free and impartial information, advice and support on Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) for parents, carers, children and young people living in Wakefield and district. We provide a confidential service that covers SENDIASS and Pre and Plus Working support. We empower individuals through the provision of information, advice, support and signposting on a variety of matters including education, health, social care, and leisure.

Now Wakefield SENDIASS, we provide a free, confidential and impartial service – meaning we do not take sides and try to ensure everyone is given opportunities to express their views and feel listened to. 

We support children, young people, their parents, carers and families by providing information to navigate systems and processes to enable families to play an active role in decision-making when it comes to matters relating to their or their children's health, education, social care to support, empowering them in meeting their child's needs and promoting self advocacy.
