Family Action is celebrating more than 20 years of supporting families in Medway, marking the milestone with news of National Lottery funding and the release of a new film highlighting the impact of its local early years work.
For more than two decades, Family Action has worked alongside local partners to support parents, babies and young children in Medway, helping families build confidence, reduce isolation and feel better connected to support in their community. The latest National Lottery funding, for Medway’s Pregnancy to Three Service, will help strengthen that work and support its continued development to meet local need.
The newly released film brings that story to life, shining a light on the experiences of families in Medway and the value of compassionate, community-based support in the earliest years of a child’s life. It forms part of Family Action’s efforts to celebrate the service’s long-standing local presence while looking ahead to its future.
Mariya Zlatinova, Operational Manager, said:
We are incredibly proud to be marking more than 20 years of supporting families in Medway. This milestone is a chance to celebrate the relationships, trust and partnership working that have been built over many years, and the difference that early support can make for parents and young children.
The new National Lottery funding is wonderful news for the service, and we are delighted to be sharing our new film as part of this moment. We hope it helps more people understand the importance of support that helps families feel less alone, more confident and better connected in their community.
Christine, volunteer and mum adds:
I was referred to Family Action during my pregnancy when I was feeling really anxious as a first-time mum. I was worried I wouldn’t make friends or feel confident going to groups, but they were so welcoming and supportive. They helped me feel like myself again.
After my support ended, I became a volunteer because I wanted to give something back, and now I’m part of the team that once supported me, which means so much.
Family Action hopes the anniversary, funding news and film release will help highlight the strength of long-term, community-rooted support for families in Medway and the role local partnerships can play in giving children the best possible start in life.
