Thousands of families to benefit from £100,000 Poundland Foundation donation

4 September 2024

A generous donation from the Poundland Foundation has given Family Action the ability to support thousands more families each year through our free, UK wide FamilyLine helpline and new online self-help resource.

The £100,000 donation will mean the development of an online Get Support area for those seeking help with many of the common challenges we respond to through FamilyLine: from parenting challenges to family conflict, relationship difficulties to concerns about mental health.

FamilyLine is here for every family and any family issue, and the Poundland Foundation’s grant will help us improve the speed and quality of the service we can provide, thanks to a fast-track case management system and improved analytics. This, and our online self-help resources will help us increase the number of families we can support each year.

Family Action Chief Executive, Sir David Holmes CBE, said, “We are immensely grateful to the Poundland Foundation for their generous donation. This funding will significantly enhance our ability to support families facing challenging times.

“With the expansion of our FamilyLine service and the introduction of new online resources, we can provide timely and effective assistance to even more individuals, ensuring that those in need know where to turn for practical help and emotional support.”

Together, we are making a real and immediate difference to the lives of families across the country

Poundland will also help raise awareness of the service in stores through customer announcements and by displaying QR codes which link to FamilyLine’s new online resources.

Poundland Foundation charity manager Lucy Ruff said, “We’re honoured to be supporting the FamilyLine helpline with our £100,000 donation which will make this much-needed service more widely available to families in need across much of the UK.”

It can be difficult knowing where to turn when you’re dealing with problems in the home among relatives, so it’s incredibly reassuring to know that our grant will allow more people to contact somebody who can lend a listening ear and guide them through the difficulties they’re facing.
