Support families this Summer

Help families to connect with their communities, access healthy food and have joyful experiences

The school holidays can be a difficult time for many families. Without the routine and safety net of school, clubs and term-time support, some parents can feel isolated, under pressure and unsure how they will manage extra costs, restless children and long summer days.

That’s why the Summer Fund enables our services to offer food, activities, community support and practical help in ways that families in their local area need most.

Because we believe that no-one should have to face their hardest moments alone. Because family means no-one forgotten, and no-one left behind.

If we miss a week of FOOD club then we really struggle, but it’s a space where I can share those struggles.

You really feel part of community… and that’s what everyone wants.

Understanding the research

We know that families are struggling, we see that through our services every day, but we also look at the latest research and statistics on poverty to understand the bigger picture, as well as conducting our own research to inform where support is needed most.

The above stats are taken from Joseph Rowntree Foundation, UK Poverty 2026 Report*; and Family Action polling data**.

Our Family Action polling was carried out by Censuswide, among a sample of 2,083 UK parents/carers of children under the age of 18. Censuswide abides by and employs members of the Market Research Society and follows the MRS code of conduct and ESOMAR principles. Censuswide is also a member of the British Polling Council.

We see it for ourselves but we also see it in the data and so we know your support will make a huge difference to families who would otherwise struggle to overcome the challenges they face.
