Every family
needs a village

Thanks to you, our FOOD Clubs, financial grants and our helpline can be the village for those without

Family isn’t easy at the best of times. But right now, across the UK, 675,000* children are at risk of going hungry this summer, and we know parents and carers are skipping meals so their children can eat. They’re lying awake at night worrying about family finances that don’t add up. Too many are carrying everything without anyone to share the load.

That’s why, for over 150 years we’ve been getting the right support at the right time to people who need us most. Through FamilyLine, through our community FOOD clubs, and through emergency grants.

Because we believe that no-one should have to face their hardest moments alone. Because family means no-one forgotten, and no-one left behind.

If we miss a week of FOOD club then we really struggle, but it’s a space where I can share those struggles.

Rachel, FOOD club member

You really feel part of community… and that’s what everyone wants.

Family Action services are working tirelessly to support families in need

Understanding the research

We know that families are struggling, we see that through our services every day, but we also look at the latest research and statistics on poverty to understand the bigger picture, as well as conducting our own research to inform where support is needed most.

The above stats are taken from The Felix Project*; Joseph Rowntree Foundation, UK Poverty 2026 Report**; and Family Action polling data***.

Our Family Action polling was carried out by Censuswide, among a sample of 2,083 UK parents/carers of children under the age of 18. Censuswide abides by and employs members of the Market Research Society and follows the MRS code of conduct and ESOMAR principles. Censuswide is also a member of the British Polling Council.

We see it for ourselves but we also see it in the data and so we know your support will make a huge difference to families who would otherwise struggle to overcome the challenges they face.
