NewDay and Family Action: helping more people move forward

When we have the support we need, we can shape, or reshape, our futures for ourselves.

NewDay is Family Action’s longest-standing corporate partner, generously donating over £2.5m across our ten-year partnership. In addition to providing vital funds for key services, NewDay also provide huge additional value through in-kind support, volunteering and colleague fundraising and events. Support for Family Action is embedded in their culture and we benefit from commitment from colleagues across all levels of the business.

NewDay’s ongoing support over the last decade has been significant in allowing Family Action to continue providing stable support to society’s most vulnerable, including throughout COVID-19 and ongoing cost-of-living challenges.

We are immensely grateful to NewDay colleagues for their dedication and support over the years.

Shared values and a common purpose create a stronger partnership - this has been the foundation of NewDay and Family Action’s collaboration.

A timeline of our partnership

FamilyLine

NewDay are a key funder of our flagship national helpline, FamilyLine. Their donation contributes to the core work of FamilyLine, including the staff infrastructure and costs associated with answering calls, texts, webchats and emails, and also ensures the sustainability and high-quality delivery of this vital service.

NewDay’s generous support allows Family Action to provide an everyday lifeline to thousands of people who need to access help, advice and onward support.

Open Doors Grants

NewDay funded the Open Doors Grants programme between 2016 and 2025, supporting over 3,200 people to move forward through the most difficult of times. Open Doors Grants were designed to support people experiencing severe and multiple disadvantage and the grants helped people to afford the basics or replace essential item such as white goods or beds/bedding.

Together with emotional support, financial relief like this can help individuals and families avoid a crisis getting further out of control, help them get back on track and move forward.

NewDay’s Charity Committee

NewDay’s Charity Committee are the driving force behind our partnership, championing Family Action through a wide range of fundraising and challenge events. In recent years, colleagues have taken on incredible feats including cycling from London to Paris, completing the National Three Peaks Challenge, running the London Marathon, tackling the London to Brighton Ultra Hike, Tough Mudder, and Endure 24 — to name just a few.

Volunteering

Beyond these impressive challenges, the team also volunteer weekly at our local FOOD clubs. Not only do they generously give their time, but they also help restock shelves and provide much-needed additional items, making a real difference to the families we support.

Christmas Toy Appeal

NewDay has also been a long-term supporter of our Christmas Toy Appeal campaign, proudly sponsoring it since 2018. In that time, NewDay contributed an incredible £145,000 in sponsorship and donated thousands of gifts to families across the UK. Their generosity helps to ease the pressure on families going through challenging times and brings joy to children at Christmas and beyond.

NewDay’s commitment doesn’t stop there — their teams always go the extra mile for the Toy Appeal, organising wrapping parties and special deliveries to ensure every gift reaches those who need it most.
