The Woodfield CommUnity project steering group sets the direction and oversees the work of the project. It makes key decisions, ensures the project is well run, has sufficient funds and resources, and is doing what it was set up to do.

Who you will be helping
You will be helping to bring together residents to develop and deliver a varied programme of activities from the Community Centre which will provide a space for residents to meet and build relationships.

You will be supporting the local community to:
- Be active and invested in their community
- Reduce social isolation
- Develop new skills and improve confidence
- Support social cohesion and capacity building by developing local services
- Take part in enriching activities
Typical tasks within this role:
Details of tasks may vary according to your role within the committee. However, all volunteers will need to do the following tasks:
- Ensure agenda and minutes are read prior to any meetings
- Attend Steering Group meetings
- Participate in discussions
- Contribute to making informed decisions, and ensuring those decisions are implemented
- Maintain regular communication with the committee members and with stakeholders.

Who are we looking for?
The management committee is accountable to the wider membership. In carrying out its job, the committee should follow the procedures laid out in the project’s constitution or rules and should also take account of good practice and the law.
We need local people from a range of backgrounds and life experiences to join the committee.
This role would particularly suit people who:
- Can demonstrate commitment, reliability and consistency.
- Are good communicators and relationship builders.
- Have lived, or currently live in Welland or Dogsthorpe
- Are able to work collaboratively
- Can represent the views of the local community
- Have the confidence to ask questions if information provided is not clear
- Are able to act in a professional and courteous manner when undertaking duties on behalf of the steering group.
